As the summer break comes to an end, the excitement of going back to school brings with it the challenge of combating germs. However, with a few proactive measures and good hygiene practices, parents, teachers, and students can work together to keep the back-to-school germs at bay.

HAND WASHING

Handwashing is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Teach children the importance of washing their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before meals, after using the restroom, and when they return home from school. 

Antibacterial hand soaps help to reduce the number of harmful bacteria on your skin.  

DISINFECTING / CLEANING

Germs gather on frequently touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, desks, and computer keyboards. Regularly disinfecting and cleaning these areas in classrooms and at home help to reduce the risk of infections spreading.

LAUNDRY

Clothes and bed sheets accumulate dirt, sweat, oils, and dead skin cells, providing an ideal environment for bacteria and germs to thrive.  Germs and pathogens are also picked up throughout the day onto our clothing. Regularly washing bed linens, towels, and clothes removes these contaminants, reducing the risk of infections. This is particularly important during flu and cold seasons.
